Birth Support

every step of the way

Compassionate and Holistic Toronto Doula Services

Birth is a powerful and transformational life event… and yet research tells us many folks characterize their birth as a negative experience. One of the main predictors of birth trauma is a lack of support.

Does this sound like you?

  • You’re feeling overwhelmed by all the conflicting advice you read and just want someone to guide you through the evidence

  • You want to feel confident advocating for yourself but aren’t sure what questions to ask

  • You’re hoping for a calm, supportive presence to help you navigate labour and delivery

  • You’re seeking personalized care that respects your preferences and goals for birth

  • You’d love tools and strategies to manage pain and stay grounded during birth

  • Or maybe you just feel that your voice is getting lost in it all

I want you to know

Birth can be a positive, unforgettable experience

You just need the right support

As your birth doula, I can support you with:

Education

As my doula client, you’ll gain access to a continually growing portal of resources covering a wide range of childbirth-related topics—essentially your very own personalized birth course!

Topics include stages of labour, comfort techniques, interventions, birth prep and postpartum recovery + so much more. These resources are designed to empower you with evidence-based information.

Physical and Emotional Support

As your doula, I offer comprehensive physical and emotional support not only for you but for your birth partner. From hands-on techniques like massage, counter pressure, and positioning suggestions to emotional reassurance and guidance, I’m here to help create a calm and supportive environment.

Advocacy

As your doula, I will help you advocate for your wishes and preferences ensuring your voice is heard, helping you navigate medical conversations, and empowering you to make informed decisions that align with your values.

I’ll provide clear, evidence-based information so you can feel confident in every choice, and I’ll support you and your partner in communicating effectively with your care team. Your autonomy and comfort are my top priorities every step of the way.

Hannah won my heart from our first phone call. Her presence, kindness and mama wisdom were SO important through my 1st pregnancy and birth story. From the beginning, I felt deeply heard, seen and supported by Hannah. Safe and free from judgement, she was always there when I needed her.

She advocated for me during labour and I was able to have an unmedicated home birth. My midwife wanted to break my water and I didn’t want that. She was my voice when I couldn’t use mine and coached me through breaking it myself. She was amazing support in all the ways!! She held me and rubbed me just right and guided me through the most beautifully intense, painful experience of my life.

I don’t know how I would have done it without her. I have SO much LOVE for this beautiful woman!!!

“Right from the moment you showed up at our house on labour day, I was naked in the bath and had a contraction start right after we said hello. You immediately jumped in providing comfort measures that gave me relief. Honestly, even though we only met twice and were practically strangers, you felt more like my sister than a clinician on that day”

You deserve for your birth to be an empowering, positive experience.

I can help you with that.

Welcome!

I’m Hannah (and I’m so glad you’re here.)

Along with being a Birth and Postpartum Doula I also work as a Registered Massage Therapist, Pre and Postnatal Fitness Specialist and a Pilates Instructor. I’m a mover, a healer, a listener, an educator and an advocate. I bring a depth of experience and a holistic approach to the birth and postpartum space.

While I’ve always been fascinated with pregnancy and birth, giving birth to my son in 2020 was a transformative journey for me. I saw in a new way the profound impact that deeply caring support and education could have on the birthing experience.

I offer non judgemental, evidence based care for whatever birth you envision for yourself. Aren’t sure? I’l help you discover that for yourself. I have supported folks with midwives and OB’s, who’ve chosen hospital births or home births. I don’t care HOW you give birth but I care if you are given options and choice, that you are listened to and respected.

Above all else, I believe that you know your body best.

I lead with my values. I believe that Black Lives Matter, Indigenous Lives Matter, Trans Lives Matter, and that the body is deeply political. I acknowledge my privileges as a white, cis-hetero, able bodied woman and remain committed to listening, reflecting and embodying the work of antiracism.

“The prenatal appointments were amazing in helping us prepare for labour, birth and postpartum. You were super knowledgeable and shared many great tips for labouring at home as well as going over what to expect during each stage of labour and when to reach out for support”

Common Misconceptions about Doulas

  • A Doula does not replace your partner. Many folks want their partner to be their main support person - I want that for you too! As a doula, I am here to support the entire birth team, including your partner.

  • A Doula does not want you to have an unmedicated home birth with no medical interventions. Your birth is yours and my only wish is that you feel supported, and have the autonomy, respect, and choice to make your own informed decisions.  Many people do now know the options that are available to them for their births. My job is to inform you of those options and then trust you to make the decision that is right for your family.

  • A Doula does not become irrelevant if you’re planning an epidural. Many folks choose to have an epidural during labour as a pain management tool. For some, epidural’s don’t work, or they many not be available at that time. Regardless, a doula can be helpful in the birth process regardless of whether paid medications are used. They can help avoid unnecessary interventions that sometimes come from using pain relief, advocate for you, and guide you through the pushing phase. As well, a doula supports you throughout your entire pregnancy and postpartum period (not just the birth).

  • A Doula does not replace a midwife. A doula is not a medical provider and therefor does not provide vaginal checks, monitoring of the fetal heart rate, or any other sort of medical procedure and we do not dispense medical advice. As a result, we are free to provide you with our undivided support and help you navigate the medical system.
